Meet Michele J. This current nursing student was asked to take the ATI TEAS Exam as part of her admission into school. After doing poorly on her first attempt, she knew that she had to prepare the right way when attempting the TEAS a second time.
So how did she prep, turn her score around and successfully secure her spot into her nursing program? She explains below.
“First off, I thought taking the TEAS exam was going to be a piece of cake with no study materials. I was dead wrong! My story begins with attending an orientation at the school I really wanted to attend. During this orientation they highly suggested I obtain all of the help I could get with ATI’s study prep materials. So, as soon as I got home I went online to view some of the study materials they had available but thought what the heck I can pass this test without the materials. I attempted to take the test with absolutely no prior studying and I did not meet the school’s requirements to apply to nursing school.
After being super discouraged I tried one more time but this time I knew I had to be prepared if I was going to pass that test. I went to the ATI website and bought the ATI TEAS Study Manual and ATI TEAS Online Practice Assessments [the Basic Package]. I studied for about 2-3 weeks before taking the test a second time. The material was very straightforward and super easy to comprehend which made studying for this test a lot easier. The Study Manual had questions at the end of every section and a test with over 30 questions at the end of each chapter. I would say those test questions at the end of each chapter were very similar to the ones on the actual test.
So fast forward 3 weeks and its the day of the test, I am super nervous and I know I can’t afford to fail again. I get finished with the test and the school I am applying for doesn’t let you see your results until you sit down with the admissions counselor, whether you pass or fail. So as I am walking up to get my results I know I had done my best and tried my absolute hardest. The counselor comes in and says congratulations you passed! This was it guys, the last piece I needed to get into nursing school and I had done it. I officially started classes July of 2019!
I’ll be honest purchasing those study materials was well worth it and they were exactly what I needed to put my mind at ease for this test. The questions were so similar to the actual TEAS, the study manual was actually enjoyable to read and overall it was very informative. I know I wouldn’t have passed if it wasn’t for those materials to go off of. It made such a difference between my first and second time taking the TEAS exam.”
