Learning Clinical Judgment: All About EHR Tutor

2 Min Read

Electronic health records have become a big part of nursing practice, helping a medical care team determine the best course of care. EHR Tutor will help you be ready to go with a patient’s EHR so you feel confident and prepared when you begin your career as a nurse.

What is EHR Tutor?

EHR Tutor is a tool that familiarizes nursing students with charting in an electronic health record (EHR). Depending on your nursing program, you may use EHR Tutor during class, clinical, and/or in the simulation lab. You will work through realistic scenarios and apply your clinical judgment based on what appears in the patient’s chart. You may also use EHR Tutor within other ATI products like HealthAssess and Skills Modules.

How does EHR Tutor help you as a nursing student?

As a bedside nurse, you will be expected to chart nearly all aspects of your patients’ care within their electronic health record (EHR). The details in a patient’s EHR allows their care team to make educated decisions about their care. EHR Tutor provides you the realistic charting experience you need to hit the ground running.

What new features can you look forward to?

Students can expect several changes that will make the charting experience easier.

  • The instructions provided by your teacher will now be available to the right of the chart, with the ability to easily collapse or open, as needed. This allows you to see the instructions and the chart side-by-side.
  • When available, feedback from your instructor will also be seen to the right of the chart.
  • The patient summary information will now span the top of the screen. This change mimics an industry-standard electronic health record that you will use during your nursing career.
  • The update and save button will now be centrally located on each chart.
